Haitian American Political Action Committee
The Haitian American Political Action
Committee pledges support to the members of the Lavalas Party
and to all Haitians who have independently taken the decision
to boycott the UN sponsored mock election in Haiti.
The refusal of more than 3.5 million out
of 4 million voters to register for the upcoming election is
evidence that the Haitian people do not have confidence in
this electoral process and a clear statement has been made
that the Lavalas is the party of majority. We are urging
Haitians everywhere to remain watchful and never yield to
their perspective pertaining to the coup d’etat that caused
the death of thousands of President Aristide’s supporters
and killed the hope of the nation.
Participating in these elections is
considered as an act of treason aimed at legitimatising the
coup leaders and disenfranchises the Haitian people of their
right to fight for freedom, justice and true democracy in
Haiti.
The illegal arrest and confinement of
Father Gerard Jean-Juste, one of the most prominent priests
and defenders of the poor is another smack to all democrats in
the world. We have to live up to the principles we taught to
our children and those principles they are dying for in Haiti.
No justice, no elections!!!
As always, the victory will be at the end
for those who take side of the people.
